Mmmmm.
The boys took us out to dinner as a thank you for the week they've stayed with us...it's been our pleasure having them here. We took the long, traffic congested cab trip down to Apgujeong, a wealthy area on the south side of the river. We had dinner at "Mad for Garlic"...oh. my. god.
This is an Italian restaurant chain in Korea that boasts over 40 different garlic-centric dishes and over 100 imported wines. We didn't bother with the wine, but we DEFINITELY bothered with the garlic. First we started off with a delicious Caesar salad. It was so exciting to have real Caesar dressing after 11 months of missing it. The salad was huge, with large, full stalks of romaine lettuce, tons of grated parmesan cheese, thick cut croutons and plenty of dressing all dripping around the perimeter of the plate. All four of us were able to comfortably nosh on it. Then, our meals came.
What meals they were.
Nick and Daren both ordered whole clove garlic and mushroom pizza with spicy meat dipping sauce and arugula salad. I had pasta with a Gorgonzola cream sauce that was smothered with scallops and slices of garlic. Phil ordered a calzone, that came with a bowl of crushed garlic sauce. All it consisted of was crushed roasted garlic with seasoning. IT WAS SO SO GOOD. We all would take turns just spooning crushed garlic into our eager mouths. We easily ingested over 50 cloves of garlic. We annihilated our food. We were so happy to have found such an amazing restaurant randomly - I had once saw it on my way home from my wedding dress shoppe and thought it would be a good place to take Nick since he has such a penchant for garlic, hahah. All of us were thoroughly satiated by our garlic feast.
We rolled ourselves out of Mad for Garlic and took the subway over to Gangnam. We ended up at Woodstock, which ended up being a great bar for watching the Mexico and South Africa World Cup match. The music was good, the people were kind, and we had primo seats right near the television. When the game was over we left to wander...only to realize that it had begun to pour buckets upon buckets of rain. We quickly got soaked and gave up our endeavor to find another fun place to hang out at. We grabbed a cab after some difficulty in the downpour and made it home safely, albeit very very wet. We are so excited to watch the Korea match tomorrow - we have our Red Devils t-shirts and we are meeting up with a big group of friends to watch the game. We expect it to be wild. We are a little sad because the weather report says the rain is not going to let up and it appears we are going to miss our baseball game that we had been planning on going to tomorrow. Oh, well. Go Korea!
