First day of teaching...

Wow. That was intense... an overload, if you will. I ended up teaching 8 classes today, and I'll be doing 10 tomorrow. Marie, who thought she wouldn't be teaching for a few days, ended up with a few of her own as well. Somehow, the universe saw it fit that for the first month, Marie would only teach 11 classes per week at Poly - while I teach 10 per day. Nice. How is it that the one with teaching experience gets the lighter load? :)

Either way, it was fun by the end of the day. It was SUPER daunting going in there, with little more than a poorly constructed schedule and a few books, and being told to teach many little kids. After the initial shock wore off though, it was actually pretty fun. You just have to go with the flow. My afternoons are comprised of 6 40-minute classes, with 5 minute breaks in between. After teaching them all, it wasn't too bad - but preparing for them, (within the 50-minute time frame I was given,) was scary. Some are taught by book, others with their online program, and others by just lecturing. And you have to assign homework. And follow all the school protocol. And manage little kids. And, and, and, etc. Like I said, daunting at the beginning. But once the last class finished, I felt totally ready to take on a few more.

I'm actually looking forward to classes tomorrow, which is a pretty significant shift from this morning haha. Hopefully, at some point this week, we'll take some pictures of the kids (who are uber-cute, I'm not ashamed to say,) and give some more details.
