More Beach Days and Delcious Seafood

The first day of 2010 was another beautiful day in Thailand. We took advantage of the sun and heat and relaxed on the beach and then went into Pattaya for a special New Year's Day dinner. There are several fancy looking seafood restaurants along the pier there and we decided to try one out.

In the front of the restaurant there were fresh fish, lobsters, crabs and shrimp on ice, and in the back on the water were simple yet pretty tables and lots of twinkly lights and big seahorse statues that lit up. I ordered sea bass with garlic in the peppery sauce I've come to love so much and Nick had red snapper in lemon sauce. We initially assumed we would be receiving fillets, but we were happily surprised when two giant whole fish appeared at our table.

The food was absolutely delicious. We stuffed ourselves to the brim. We enjoyed sitting outside in the warm evening simply enjoying our food and each others' company. It took a while but we picked our fish mostly clean and then headed on home.

This morning we went to the beach for what will be our last time, since tomorrow we leave for Bangkok. On our way to the beach we stopped at a restaurant that has always been crowded with people every time we've passed by. We assumed it would be a safe bet for some delicious food, and we were right. They served proper English breakfasts, complete with tea and coffee and fresh juice. The eggs were prepared perfectly, and they served it with large slices of toast and salty butter that melted in your mouth. Nick had baked beans with his eggs and sausages, I had stewed tomatoes. They were all fantastic and we were very satisfied when we finally stumbled onto the beach. We digested our tasty breakfasts as we lounged about on the sand, reading some books we had picked up from the house's copious amount of bookshelves. I managed to pick up a gorgeous wooden necklace from a vendor on the beach and relaxed in the sun with a coconut drink...in a coconut, of course.

Tonight we went to an Indian restaurant with our friends and feasted on lamb, tikka masala, chicken saag, samosas and fresh veggies. All in all we've come to love Pattaya and Jomtien and we will miss it here.
